About this piece

Mauve Cloud is a one-of-a-kind cowrie shell bolo tie. A large cowrie in mauve-grey washed with tan banding, on a two-tone braid with copper tips. Soft weather over calm water. The shell was gathered by hand in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, then cleaned, tumbled and hand-polished on the lapidary wheel. The cord is two-tone braided leather, roughly 36–40″ adjustable, finished with copper-tone metal tips. The slide closes with a metal clasp on the back. $145, in stock; ships free in the US with a hand-signed provenance card.

How it wears & care

Keep the leather cord dry and put the bolo on last, after lotion, sunscreen or cologne has dried. Wipe the shell with a soft dry cloth and store it flat or hanging somewhere cool and dry.
