About this piece

Purple & Lavender Cockle is a one-of-a-kind cockle shell bolo tie. A cockle shell washed in purple and lavender, hand-polished and set on a green cord — soft, romantic color from the Big Island shore. The shell was gathered by hand in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, then cleaned, tumbled and hand-polished on the lapidary wheel. The cord is green leather, 42″ adjustable, finished with brass-tone metal tips. The slide is clasp-less — wet-drilled, with no metal touching the shell — so the cord simply slides to adjust. The shell measures 60 × 45 mm. $145, in stock; ships free in the US with a hand-signed provenance card.

How it wears & care

Keep the leather cord dry and put the bolo on last, after lotion, sunscreen or cologne has dried. Wipe the shell with a soft dry cloth and store it flat or hanging somewhere cool and dry.
