About this piece

Winter Sun is a one-of-a-kind ʻopihi (Hawaiian limpet) shell bolo tie. A pale ʻopihi ribbed like frost with a storm-grey center, clasp-less on metallic gold. Cold light, warm cord. The shell was gathered by hand in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, then cleaned, tumbled and hand-polished on the lapidary wheel. The cord is metallic gold braided leather, roughly 36–40″ adjustable, finished with silver-tone metal tips. The slide is clasp-less — wet-drilled, with no metal touching the shell — so the cord simply slides to adjust. Sold — this piece has found its keeper and shipped with its hand-signed provenance card.

How it wears & care

Keep the leather cord dry and put the bolo on last, after lotion, sunscreen or cologne has dried. Wipe the shell with a soft dry cloth and store it flat or hanging somewhere cool and dry.
