About this piece
Mountain Pattern Clam is a one-of-a-kind bittersweet clam shell bolo tie. A bittersweet clam patterned like a mountain ridge — gathered in the Cat Ba Islands of Vietnam and hand-polished. A rare relic carried home from across the Pacific. The shell was gathered in the Cat Ba Islands of Vietnam, then cleaned, tumbled and hand-polished on the lapidary wheel in Kona. The cord is brown/grey leather, 40″ adjustable, finished with silver-tone metal tips. The slide is clasp-less — wet-drilled, with no metal touching the shell — so the cord simply slides to adjust. The shell measures 50 × 55 mm. $145, in stock; ships free in the US with a hand-signed provenance card.
How it wears & care
Keep the leather cord dry and put the bolo on last, after lotion, sunscreen or cologne has dried. Wipe the shell with a soft dry cloth and store it flat or hanging somewhere cool and dry.
